I got the KAC ambi mag release from Grant, and the ambi safety from Bravo Company. Can't wait for the BAD.
I just did two lines of powdered wig powder, cranked up some Lee Greenwood, and recited the BoR. - Outlander Systems

Not to hijack cause I bet the op also wants to know this but forgot... Who makes the best ambi charging handle? My wife recently had me build her an AR and is wrong handed.
If you charge with your weak hand while still holding the grip with your strong hand, an ambi charging handle can help if you're left handed. If you always charge with your strong hand (as with a bolt action) then it's less of an issue.
I have a Badger Ordnance ambi charging handle that works fine. Just like a regular one but there is a trigger on both sides. Someone else is making one now, but I forget who.
Seb5, Although you can train around a standard charging handle for left handed use, I am in agreement with Left Sig in regards to that technique. I am also of the opinion, that if a gun can be made to be ambidextrous, why shouldn't it? Shooting off-shouldered, left handed in right handed world, et al....the controls are out there, so why not make them ambi?
That said, some of the ambi-CH's are still new out there and some are abhorations of design (CF C8A2 for example - I saw this thing at the factory just when they were beginning the change over and thought it was a piece of crap), so their sturdiness and ability to stand up to muster is still to be determined.
Left Sig here is a new one to the market. Haven't tried one myself but am anxious to get my mitts on one.
I would still like to see the PRI GB made into an Ambi version. Dave looked at it briefly when I asked him if he could do it, and later shelved the idea due to pressing projects. I prefer the PRI CH due to the overall size. Nice to grab onto without being too big.
Just my .02

Thanks Boltgun,
That's the one I was thinking of but could not remember the manufacturers name. Looks like an interesting design. Please report on your impressions if you get one and try it out.
To all, I suppose your points are as valid as mine. So, I am not preaching or telling any of you that you need to have my opinion. With that out of the way.
It's just the last year or 2 that I have even tried LH AR parts. I've shot them for years with the regular controls. My take on these items is if it enhances my ability to shoot faster, or more accurately, or to manipulate my weapon in a safer, more positive manner. I also take into consideration whether it adds parts or bulk to the overall profile.
The safety does meet the above criteria. At the same time the safety is the easiest control to learn to use without going ambi. Even with one I still use the top edge of me left hand to re engage the safety after firing. It's easier and faster for me.
The mag release to me is the most needed LH item on the AR series rifles and carbines. It is for speed only as the right hand thumb is very positive and works well. It is just slow and difficult to perform a speed reload as quickly as you either have to unload, stash the mag, grab the new one and insert or you have to fumble 2 mags in your right hand, which is not recommended. I'm not sure for me how the ambi models will work out but I have 2 different models and have been using them for training. They are well designed and I believe I will stay with them but haven't made a final decision yet.
The bolt releases are overly large and busy for me. I will try one but as of yet have not. So as of now I cannot give any opinion that has any merit.
As far as the charging handle these are my thoughts. You rarely use it for anything after initial loading of the weapon. The bolt release is my preferred method after replacing a magazine. I do use and prefer a Badger tac release on most all of my carbines. My thinking on this is that I will occasionally swipe the CH back with my weak hand. I started doing this with weapons that had magnifying optics on them like the ACOG or a NightForce that were large and might prevent a smooth manipulation of the CH by being in the way or their physical size. I found it worked well by allowing me to use the palm of my right hand. If you use the pinch method the standard or tac latch works well as I have more dexterity in my right forefinger than in my left middle finger. I'm not against the ambi models. I just don't feel that they offer anything over the standard models, for me anyway.
Take care.
