Any ideas on a 1-4x optic and a mount for $500.00 or less???

That leupold "AR" 1-4 wouldn't be a half bad cheapie-option if they offered something like their german #4 reticle in there.

I'd try to get an used accupoint 1.25-4x, a decent mount and call it good.

At those prices I doubt Leupold is making those scopes in the USA. They may test them here, but I'm sure at the core is that Chinese "Green Ring" line.

According to a SWFA post on arfcom, they (SWFA) confirmed with Leupold that these are made in the USA.

Been looking for a good one in this price range for a hunting 458 socom. May try the leupy AR. Spec sheets and such look like it is same as Mark2 but for much less.

I mounted one on a Custom Noveske 16" Carbine with a 3/4 inch riser for less than $350. I too was looking for a 1-4X Power scope to use on a flat top AR rifle and after considering everything that I could find (For $300-600). I went with the fixed 2.5. It is very clear, has about 5" of eye relief, 8" in length, 1" tube, FOV @ 100 YDS=39.5' and weighs about 7 ounces and with the Wide Duplex very easy to use at close range and at distance.

The FX 2.5X20MM is regularly mounted on big game (heavy caliber) rifles, so I'm sure that it is quite durable. My rationale for choosing the fixed power was because I anticipated it to be fairly durable (I have banged, dropped, and submerged two other variable Leupolds with no loss of zero or breakage in the past) and I have a tendency not to use the higher power settings on my scopes [mostly 3X9]. I purchased the sight to shoot targets and small game/ varmints and I believe that it will do well in that regard.

The retailer where I found the scope is listed below. I purchased the scope a few weeks ago and at the time there were 2 or 3 left. If you check SWFA or others the scope sells for around $270 or $300.

P.S. As others have said, I would not use this type optic for Defense/ Combat, but for a general all around sight it may fit your needs and budget.

For defensive/ combat use, as Pat Rogers and Larry Vickers advocate, I chose an Aimpoint (M4).

--After using the detach rings with the riser; I have decided to purchase a Larue SPR/M4 mount to use for the scope. The scope rings w/ riser work just fine, but I wanted something more solid/durable. American Defense produces a similar type one-piece mount and I found one for around $130 versus $200 for the Larue. But, because of past dealings with Larue staff, I will be purchasing the Larue myself.

well folks, i followed the links and still i see no proof they are cheap chinese knock offs, or what ever.

mine is marked, "Made in U.S.A." "Military And Law Enforcement Only"

so if any one can prove they are made i china then you better get a good lawyer and sue the living hell out of them for FALSE advertisement.

as long as they are marked "Made In U.S.A." i will continue to buy them, in fact i have 5 scopes i want to sell right now because i believe the Counter Sniper Optical Corp. is a legitimate American company.

As I understand it, a certain % of the finishing has to be done in the US to be able to make the "Made in the US" statement.

For example, you can buy glass from China, have it coated in the US, and you have "Made in US" glass. Hell, the best glass is said to come from the outside.

Also as I understand it, the glass is cheap. You get a top shelf lens for only a couple dollars. It's the actual coatings on said glass that costs an arm & a leg.

Just because something says "Made in the US", doesn't necessarily make it so.

Are the clicks on the turrets good and positive or are they mushy???
Does it hold zero (rough handling of the gun and recoil)???
Does it feel cheap???

Ive been interested in one of these for a little while, but theres always someone there to advise me against it.

Are the clicks on the turrets good and positive or are they mushy??? mine feel sharp and "cicky", plus they have a locking knob on both horizontal and vertical it comes with a little Allen wrench to unlock the turret, reset to zero after you have sighted in for your specified yardage.


Does it hold zero (rough handling of the gun and recoil)??? first off, i handle my guns as though they are new born puppy's..., soooo, to be honest about the rough handling here is my routine, out of the safe, into a padded "tactical" zip up case, set the case on the floor, get other stuff ready, carry it all out to my pick-up put it on the front seat with muzzle towards floor, drive 4 miles on a very bumpy dirt road, which the first 1/2 mile to range and last 1/2 mile on way home is extremely bumpy, at the range i remove it from case lock the BCG back insert safe chamber flag and place on bench with bi-pod legs extended muzzle down range, when range is "HOT" i fire about 200 rounds, i will not judge the scopes accuracy as i have some permanent nerve damage in my neck due to C2 thru C6 surgery to insert and screw in a set of Titanium "RailRoad Tracks", a few years ago, prior to surgery, with the same rifle and different scope i was grouping shots 1 1/2"-2".., now i am doing 4" - 5" groups which was better than the 12" - 14" groups i got my first shooting session after Dr. released me to shoot my 5.56mm with this scope, a friend shot a 10 shot group with this rifle/scope and got a good 1 1/2" group, so i would give it an "A"


Does it feel cheap??? NO !! at one pound 5 oz. it feels very sturdy good scopes are heavy..., my OPINION

These are cheap chinese crap (FYI).

Anytime a company puts a billboard all over the scope that it is for LE/Military use only with a big SPEAR on the scope is a CLUE that they are junk.

None of the optics that HSLD types use have ANY of the writing on them like these do (another clue).
