It was the buffer tube. I back it out by one turn and presto everything is a go.
Now when I have the ammo and time (I am not digging into my stash) I will go fire. Well I need to save and get a BUIS for the rear first.

i agree, BUT..., when i run across this problem, i find that backing off the tube one full turn will allow the buffer retainer to pop out, so what i do to fix this is to chuck it up in my lathe and remove a half thread, try it, then remove more metal and try when it fits i then take a small rat tail file and in the bottom of the tube where the retainer touches it, i file a small half circle in the groove.
all buffer tubes are NOT created equal![]()

Parts I used:
Spike's Tactical stripped lower
Stag LPK
MagPul MIAD
MagPul CTR
LMT Buffer Tube
LMT Castle Nut
Brownells End Plate
Wolf Spring
H Buffer
LaRue DMR-16 upper receiver (I thought about building my own upper, but being this is my first time, I decided to focus on just doing the lower.)
Kaiser,
You might want to stake those endplates/castle nuts. At least one of them looks as if it isn't.
