Like a bunch of bureaucratic administrators would even know the difference? Use it, paint it, or claim ignorance.
"What do you mean this isn't a T-1, you mean there's a difference, really, what is it?
"The peace we have within us is most often expressed in how we treat others"
First, the new H-1 finish is identical to the T-1 and your firearms trainer won't know the difference. Second, Aimpoint has ID the need to label the H-1 as an LE item. Finally, call Matt Swenson, Director of LE Sales for Aimpoint, at 703-263-9795 and/or call him at matt.swenson@aimpoint.com Matt is notorious for not returning calls or emails right away so bombard him with one call or email each day until he does. When he does respond tell him I told you to do it. ;-)

Tell him FJB sent you.
"S/F" is short for Semper Fidelis... if you were a Marine or former Marine you'd have know that. It isn't readily obvious to others. Of course if you were my brother, an irreverent FL cop and former combat Marine himself, you'd sign off with "Send for Fries"

My first opinion echoes the sentiment of most of the people here... what's the difference? Minor to say the least and no one will know if it's an H-1 or T-1 so just use it.
On the flip side of that I wouldn't advocate using the H-1 due to thinking officers are supposed to uphold the laws and rules and this happens to be one of the rules of your department. If you ignored it I would consider that being hypocritical since you are a LEO.
I know laws are different than rules & regs but they are there for a reason and simply ignoring them because you don't agree with them isn't right from my perspective and might subject you to disciplinary action.
It's alot like the person who's speeding or breaking the law... knowing you're doing something you shouldn't be and hoping not to get caught. And yes, I'm a speeder and I have paid the consequences... several times![]()
Guys guys guys. What if he is involved in a shooting that is even in the least bit scrutinized? If he has an unapproved optic that will give a family/lawyer tons of ammo. You guys are right that there isnt enough difference and probaly would get by just fine. But, if any shootings that he is involved with were to be thrown under the microscope not having an "approved" optic would be suicide!
