Get a copy of the printed Aimpoint LE catalog. Not the Aimpoint website. See if it is in there. If it is go back to your people with that. Or see if you can talk to someone at Aimpoint about getting this changed on the website and get a letter of applicability to take to your people.

If not, get a T-1 for all the reasons stated
    • formerly known as "eguns-com"
    • M4Carbine required notice/disclaimer: I run eguns.com
•eguns.com has not been actively promoted in a long time though I still do Dillon special
orders, etc. and I have random left over inventory.
•"eguns.com" domain name for sale (not the webstore). Serious enquiries only.

Used an approved optic. It really doesn't matter, if someone can tell the difference or not, its not an approved optic, period.
Forget about court, just the fact that you are violating policy, and have admitted so on a public forum is enough trouble.

See if you can exchange it, if they won't change the policy, or sell it. I'll give ya 50 bucks for it

Seriously, only you know how your CoC is about this kinda thing. Some things can slide and some things can't, or nothing at all. But I would think twice about violating policy.

Depending on the price you paid, I may be willing to help you out by buying it. Let me know what you want for it in a PM if you need to go that route.

Wednesday update: Still trying to contact Matt Swenson with Aimpoint. He really is not a fan of answering emails or voice mails. I do have a letter from 2 people higher up the chain of command than the idiot approving my use of the H-1. I'm going to try to get something from Aimpoint and then deliver it with the above mentioned letter to Training Division. Pretty sure that will change his mind.

Kinda sounds like some of you think I just decided to say screw it and violate policy at will. Definitely not true. The optic is sitting on my living room table, I only brought it to work once to show my coworkers and haven't brought it since. I'm not even going to mount it to zero it in until I get it officially approved. Northwest Tactical is going to work with me on exchanging it if it ends up that they don't approve it.

Naw, just trying too look after our boys in blue! I hope it works out for ya. Sounds like your training officer is like some of our battalion chiefs.....Cant see past his nose cause its turned up a little too high.

I'd be weary about violating policy not for the possible legal ramifications should you end up in an OIS. But because of the possiblity that your Agency could leave you hanging in such a situation.

I'd be interested in purchasing your H-1/mount if you decide to sell it. Just PM me if you're interested.

Although your purchase won't be used for work, why not throw it on a personal rifle and get the T1. Be glad your approved list includes Aimpoint. Many PD's, icluding mine, narrow it to a specific model RD and nothing else.

Yea, thats why I'm going to go the legal way and either convince the idiot to change the policy or exchange my H-1 with Northwest Tactical and pay the extra bit for a T-1.

Haha its my personal AND work rifle. Although right now its just a personal gun locked up at home.

I'm in the process of trying out for our department's SWAT team. If I get on, they issue out either HK MP5s or HK416s. If I get issued one, I won't be bringing my personally owned gun to work anymore (and will then begin the SBR process for it, woohoo ) Also as far as I know, the HK416s have Trijicon Reflex sights mounted.

Still no word from Matt Swenson with Aimpoint. I think I'm up to 2 emails and 3 phone calls leaving 2 voice messages.

What H1? That looks like a T1 to me.

Bit of a thread resurrection on this Monday afternoon.

Got in touch with Matt. He had been out on FMLA with a new baby. As to be expected, work emails and phone calls were the last thing on his mind . After that he ended up just being busy catching back up with work while dealing with business trips.

I poked around a bit more with my chain of command, asking them what they thought. They decided that since I have a letter from 2 people of a higher rank than the idiot Lt that put out the policy, I will be ok. On top of that, I just got accepted onto my agency's SWAT team. Hopefully in the near future they'll give me an HK416 or MP5 so I won't have to carry my personally owned LMT.
