Sorry for all the questions. I don't have any Bushmaster stuff, my interest is essentially from the engineering perspective. I would be curious to know if you have run the reamer on Colt or LMT chambers and removed any material. I don't have access to the TDP, so if anyone knows the thickness of the chrome layer called out there I would appreciate the information.
At the AMU we sectioned a number of shot-out M4 and M16 barrels to analyze wear patterns. A lot of chrome chips off the chamber shoulder anyway so it won't make much functional difference to a weapon that isn't stored or fought in the tropics.
The biggest problem I've seen with M4s that had to be mortared (even with the stocks collapsed) was breaking the toe off the buttstock (cracking off at the sling swivel cut through the buttplate).

I disagree about the hillbilly comment, when training or actual if you need to extract the round because you NEED to NOW ....then actually practicing this method of pulling the charging handle down with pressure and striking the butt of the weapon on the ground SAFLEY is a good way to get stuck rounds out...and a good way to train to do this for when you need to so its not the first time.
Just my opinion.
Did he use a Ned Christiansen reamer or something else? It is possible that your chamber is within spec, but it's been my experience and that of many others that they are usually not.
Obviously I would do a full inspect of the gun and try and procure other types of ammunition for testing.
