Hand guard is loose!!!! HELP PLEESE!!!!!!

I just purchased a brand new colt 6920 LE!

I bought a new CAA Picatinny Rail that attatches to the bottom of the hand guard!!!

I then attached a vertical foregrip to that!

The guard was like that before i put the accessories on it but the whole entire hand guard twists side to side about an 1/8 to an 1/4 of an inch!!!

    AHHHHHH This is very annoying!!

It seems to be the way the fore grip was manfactured!!! Does anybody know of a way to fix this????

This is kind of the chance you take when using a VFG on factory handguards as they weren't designed for this type application.

Short of changing out the handguards or the spring in the delta ring, I'm not sure there is much you can do. And even then I'm not sure it's gonna get it to where you want it.

Options are limited but include in addition to those I listed above, moving to a railed handguard, like the drop ins from MI and Troy, or the free floats from Troy, MI, Daniel Defense, Larue, etc... I highly recommend checking out the DD Omega series. You cold also use the bolt-on rail solely to run a light and utilize a traditional hold on the handguards (aka no VFG).

    Good luck!

It's normal. The plastic handguards were never designed to be used as a mounting point for a VFG. If you want something that doesn't move, buy a good quality rail.

Yea i wouldn't mind if the hand guard moved a little if i just had a vfg on it but i have a laser sight built into my vfg made from mako and it sucks when my laser moves depending on how the foregrip moves on the gun!!!!!

    AHHHHHHHH!!!!!

So I was looking at sum different handguards including the #416 Quad Rail Systems Mount (MNT-HG416S-B) from leapers/UTG!!!!

What do you think about this handguard? Is it still going to move side to side if i get this one?

otherwise does anybody know of good quadrails 4 my colt 6920 that won't move side to side 4 a resonable price?? (Pleese send link)!!!

    Thanks!!!

Below i have 2 links to this product, let me know what you think about it!!!

Please don't take this the wrong way. You started out well by purchasing a Colt carbine. Please do yourself a favor and lose the cheap POS handguards and buy a decent quality rail system. If you can't afford one then wait it out until you can. Another thing is that you may want to STRONGLY consider losing that Mako foregrip crap.

The issue has been discussed previously in reference to that integrated light that they make with the trigger. It is highly probable that you could have a sympathetic reaction and pull the trigger when you meant to active the light/ laser.

I have no idea about your background or skill level, but I would encourage you to stick with a basic carbine and then move up as you can. JM2CW.

    mmm.

i had the same problem on my blasters. there is no shortcut.

i'd just bite the bullet and spend the $250 on a Daniel Defense Omega rail.

there's no special smithing required - all you need is a flathead screwdriver and the supplied allen wrench.

just pop the handguards out (preferably with a handguard removal tool) and install.

I'm with IG on this one... you bought one of the best basic carbines out there... don't junk it up with crappy accessories... figure out what you really need on there and put some buy quality parts - then you won't have these problems...

Oh, and as a personal aside - enough with the exclamation points!!!

This is not an insult, so please don't take it that way.

You seem very new to the weapon system. Take all that crap back off. Start reading about your new weapon system. You would be alot better off learning the proper way to clean, function, and zero your 6920. Read the following thread from Rob S., then by Robb (gotm4) below, and take your time. Don't get caught up in the tacticool bullshit. The VFG, and other items will come in time, but you need to educate yourself with the system before adding accesorys.

You should spend no less then a week reading on this site before you head to the range. Learn how how the system works, and get use to the basic functions.

Do what I suggust, and report back in a week and see just how different you feel about the system.

Even on my LMT the factory handguards would rotate a little bit because the delta ring moved. My fix? A DD Omega 7. Then a TROY MRF-R system because I wanted more real estate and I'll never have an AR that doesn't have a free floating handguard system. You're desire to have a VFG is completely normal---the human hand was designed to work vertically rather than horizontally, so get a good freefloat handguard on your weapon. you can find the DD Omega for $250 shipped on ebay. If you need more real estate than that you're talking FSB models, and usually armorer install. Good luck and God bless!
