I dont necessarily agree with that. You can get good stuff at reasonable prices if you are smart.

For example. A basic LMT upper can be had for about $500. Its more accurate than most shooters. Also, lets be frank here. When I say more accurate than a shooter. I mean a shooter's practical accuracy.

That means standing, kneeling, sitting, etc.

I laugh at these guys who go to the range and just blast away while sitting on a bench. They are shooting too quickly to be paying much attention to the fundamentals like sight picture, trigger squeeze and breathing.

But their target is too far away and their shooting is too slow for it to really be an excercise in some kind of tactical shooting. Oh yeah, and they're sitting on a bench with their rifle on a table. How practical is that? So they're just blasting.

This same type of guy, with the Magpul and Vltor all over their rifles have targets that have so many untaped holes in them that they have absolutely no idea where each shot is falling.

    OK. enough of my rant.

YHM makes good stuff that is reasonably prices. Is the machining as fine as a LaRue or a DD? No. But the quality of the finish has little to do with the functionality of the item. Look at an AK some time. Its a mess from a finish perspective. But it works.

The YHM customizable free float forearm is a great deal and is functionally superior than many tacticool quad rails. Its lighter and more comfortable, but you can put rails where you need them.

No its not as sexy as a high end DD rail, but it works great, at least as far as most of our needs are concerned. (how much crap do you really want to hang off your AR?)

I'm not affiliated with YHM. I just am familiar with their stuff. I'm sure there are others out there that make good, reasonably priced stuff.

    Don

p.s. Here's another example of where you dont really get more. You just get bling. A BCG from Bravo company or LMT is less than $150. Both are proven. Both are reliable. So unless you are buying a fancy young bolt as part of a low mass bolt/buffer/spring system for your race gun, whats the point of a fancy BCG??

i should have said generally... i have a YHM flip up front site/gas block on my rifle and its nice. it works. i wouldnt however, but one of their rails. im not too fond of the way they go on. i think some of the new ones have anti rotation screws in them, however.

that LMT upper for 500 bucks also doesent have a BCG in it. i do agree though that there is some stuff that is just flat out over priced.

i swear, it drives me nuts when people put cheap chinese shit on a nice rifle, hell on any rifle. i guess because i went to school with people like that. its like this kid that used to have this beat up little civic with a fart cannon the size of my head on it, thought he was the shit with his skull decals all over the car, chromed pedals, and upgraded shift knob that he got in the automotive section at wally world.

its like some people just feel an urge to spend money on accessories, just so they can say they have em, doesent matter if their actually real quality stuff or not, its just how much.

lets see how much shit i can hang off my car, or lets just see how much shit i can hang off my AR. i find it hard to take people like that seriously... especially when they come on here with only a couple posts talkin like a 16 year old textin his girlfriend... makes me sorta think i smell troll.
well then, you definitely need to stay away from a GoldWing Motorcycle Convention....

except a gold wing is big and heavy to begin with. Its meant to have stuff hung off it.

I think its more like hanging 40 lbs of crap off a 360 lb 1000RR.
