what are you using the rifle for? people keep asking you, because its kind of important.

i'm not trying to be a dick here, but sadly, i cant help being a dick. do you even really need a VFG? do you know how to properly shoot with a VFG? do you use a weakside thumb hold? do you choke the chicken? do you use the VFG more for indexing purposes, or are you holding on for dear life?

my guess is that you would probably be better of with factory plastic handguards & no VFG....but it really depends on what kind of shooting you're going to be doing with the rifle.

rails are one of the least important accessories, but because they be blingin', people tend to buy them first....before they have optics, or more than 6 magazines, or a case of ammo, etc.

before you start thinking about a rail you should think about the following:

Ammo. how much 5.56 or .223 ammo do you have? you probably need more.

Magazines. you can never have enough. magazines are expendable items....they wear out. plan ahead.

Sling. essential. this is NOT a place where you want to skimp. spend the $50 and get a quality sling.

Optic. if you are using this rifle for duty/defense you should have a red dot site. you haven't really explained what the purpose of the rifle is....so its sort of hard to give advice regarding such an unknown quantity. but generally speaking, you should slap an aimpoint on there before you start thinking about rails.

Light. if its a duty/defense rifle a light is a must-have. you dont need a rail to mount a light, there are several threads on M4C regarding non-railed forend light mounting

    Training. learning never stops.

and by the way, the price on the DD Omega is not "CRAZY!!!!!!" it is actually very reasonable considering the ease of install by the end user, the overall design of the system, materials used, as well as machine hours required for manufacture.

    no there "arn't"

there are less expensive rails that are also very high quality, but none of them offer what the Omega offers. do a little research. compare some specs. you'll see that the price is fair for what you get. other than the Omega you might want to look into Vltor, KAC, and Midwest Industries.

rails are an expensive item to manufacture.

if you want heavy, sloppy garbage with out of spec rail slots, constructed from shoddy materials, then by all means go buy some UTG rails or the like.

seriously. stop buying Mako and CAA junk. if you want quality, you have to pay. but you already know that, as you have a 6920.

friends don't let friends buy CAA/Scrotus/Worst Samco
how come you are so hung up on the man using these ???? !!!!????!!!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!

have you checked your spelling ????? that bothers me more than some of these ????????!!!!!!!!!!!?????????!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the Omega is a very good rail. I don't think it's the "best possible rail" out there, but it's probably the best two-piece FF rail in that price range. It should definitely serve your stated purposes quite well. Hope you enjoy it!

    6920,

People are busting your stones because you are writing like you are a 19 yr old kid texting his buddies.

A couple of hints on things not to type

    U R (you are)
    sum (some)
    prolly (probably)
    l8tr (later)
    ???????????????????? (?? works just fine)
    havn't (haven't)
    LOL

You get the point. English is what's spoken here. Not textnglish.
Finally - invest in a good spell checker. If you download firefox, it will underline any word you misspell. I'm a terrible speller. But I can see right away what I've spelled wrong on this post because those words have little squiggly red underlines.

Again, I'm not slamming you. But you will be taken more seriously if you write in proper english.

    Don

p.s. every once in a while I've encountered someone who truly didn't know how to write. People go easy on those people. Its not worth being cruel. But its entirely different when someone knows how to write, but chooses to use text-glish instead.

    p.p.s. Yes, I'm a prick. I already know.

Doesnt this kinda sound like Ruger's new SR556 having troy rails, BUIS, magpul mags etc then on their accesory page they have CAA junk all over. WTF's the point? Pay $2000 for a badass Colt (some would call it the best), only to pay $45 for UTG or CAA plasticware. I love seeing guys at the range that do this. No insult intended but it sounded like you needed a little constructive criticism to point you in the right direction

the enthusiasm is strong with this one.....

take all that laser sight/vfg, CAA, and leapers shit off that rifle and throw it in the trash.

i swear, it drives me nuts when people put cheap chinese shit on a nice rifle, hell on any rifle. i guess because i went to school with people like that. its like this kid that used to have this beat up little civic with a fart cannon the size of my head on it, thought he was the shit with his skull decals all over the car, chromed pedals, and upgraded shift knob that he got in the automotive section at wally world.

its like some people just feel an urge to spend money on accessories, just so they can say they have em, doesent matter if their actually real quality stuff or not, its just how much.

lets see how much shit i can hang off my car, or lets just see how much shit i can hang off my AR. i find it hard to take people like that seriously... especially when they come on here with only a couple posts talkin like a 16 year old textin his girlfriend... makes me sorta think i smell troll.

Omega price did sound outrageous the first time I heard it. I did my research.. and ended up buying the Lite Rail whcih is even more expensive.

why? I learned what I needed and didn't want to compromise. i think you should start reading first and look for rob s. website.

    1) Mags
    2) Ammo
    3) Training

the AR market is one of the markets where you really do get what you pay for. you pay a premium for premium gear, but, like has been stated before; you buy once you cry once. and then you also have the satisfaction of knowing you have teir one quality gear, and not just stuff thats "good enough."

if you need something that you can install your self, the DD omega wins hands down.

if your gonna have it installed by a smith, or you have the skills and tools to do it your self, go with the larue or the DD. I have a larue and love it.
