I borrowed a small spring loaded punch from work and it seriously took less than fifteen seconds to do. I never had an issue with it loosening before but I just don't understand why one wouldn't stake the nut unless you change out receiver extensions on the same rifle several times a year as even with the minimalist type staking Stag Arms does it was way more difficult to remove the castle nut versus the non-staked one I had on a middy home build I sold many moons ago. With the proper staking on my rifle now I would have a bear of a time getting the nut back off if I ever had to remove the RE again.

thank you sir, i am not saying it should not be done, but how many folks here use their AR-15 as a weapon ?

for the paper punching crowd who take their AR to the range once a month and run 100 rounds thru it would you agree that a good torquing is sufficient ?

by all means, i absolutely positively advocate assembling an AR-15 from scratch BY THE BOOK and i also recommend that every AR-15 builder/owner get a few good books on assembly and follow them to a "TEE"

here is a list of books.., i recommend every AR owner have at least 2 or 3 of them....., personally...., i believe i own just about every book ever printed on the AR-15.

I think it has been answered and this thread is going down the tubes like the last one did in regards to whether or not to stake.
