    Accurate M4 profiled barrels?

If you don't mind, name a couple of barrel makers who produce M4 profiled barrels. My reasoning behind wanting this profile is that, well.... it looks cool. I know, dumb reason, but this rifle that I'm building is supposed to be everything that I like on it and I wanted a barrel profile that's different than a plain jane straight profile. As far as going with a good barrel maker, I want it to be as accurate as possible (I know the M4 profile isn't great for this), yet still have some style to it. If I can't find a barrel maker that produces an accurate m4 profiled barrel, I'll go with fluting or something of that nature I guess. Anyway, thanks in advance.

I got an M4 barrel from AFM Firearms, and I couldn't be happier with it. They use the mil-spec steel, chrome lined, 1/7, blah blah blah... M4 feed ramps and the whole 9 yards. So far, it's been awesome. At 50 yards, doing my IBZ, I can put every round in the 10 ring, and more than one in the "X". Of course, I have to do my part for that, and try to cut down on the coffee before I head out that day...

wow.. two threads on the same obscure company in 5 minutes... how long did you wait for your barrel? i ordered two M4 barrels 6-7 weeks ago with an expected lead time of 2 weeks, and still no word.

LMT's 16" CL barrels are highly accurate.

Really? I always hear about how well made and durable their rifles are, but never really much about their accuracy.

are you looking for a 16" or 14.5" M4 barrel? Go with BCM if you can find one if not, go for LMT.
BTW, what is it about the M4 profile that makes it inaccurate?

Truly the length doesn't matter at this point, I'll take what I can get. As far as the M4 being inaccurate, an m4 profiled barrel can be plenty accurate, but I think that the profile, or any lightweight barrel, doesn't lend itself well to handling long shooting sessions where high heat is generated.

Sabre Defence makes a fine M4 barrel, as well. At 200m, it's within 1/2MOA of my 20" Krieger barreled match rifle with 77gr SMK's.

However, it warms up faster than the heavy SS barrel and the groups start to open up a bit after a few rounds go down the pipe. But again, the M4 isnt' designed to print tiny groups at long range anyway.

I always find these questions interesting because it's so hard to try and make the little M4 Carbine do everything well. "Accuracy" is relative, of course, but trying to find the most accurate M4 barrel is like trying to find the "best" off-road tires for your Ferrari...the Ferrari just isn't designed for off-road use, so no matter what tires you put on it, it won't perform as well as a Jeep off-road.

It really all depends on what you want to do with the carbine. The one thing to watch for is to try and avoid is to make your M4 "too accurate" by going to a "match barrel" with a "match" chamber. I've seen plenty of these stop running in carbine courses where higher rates of fire are required.

For normal usage, any of the top tier AR manufacturers (Colt, LMT, BCM, Sabre, etc.) should make an "accurate" M4 barrel. From everything I've seen, Noveske always gets high marks for their barrels.

LMT 16"s are sub moa barrels. According to Ryan with everything done right and the stars in line they will do .60moa.
