    FWIW:
Bill Ricca has earned a great reputation among people who preserve /shoot historic USGI Evil Brown Guns like Garands , Springfields , and M1 Carbines.
Among other things , he is well known for absolute integrity.

IIRC , there was an brief article in the Garand Collectors Association Journal that ID'ed Mr. Ricca as the only known (documented) member of the GCA to have been engaged by an enemy soldier with a Garand , while the GCA member was
in the US military , post WW2.

It happened in southeast Asia. That kind of thing adds to his wieght as a Garand historian.

Anybody see the latest NRA American Rifleman?
The article: " Riflemen of the Revolution " seems like it might be worth reading.
Sooner or later I'll get to it.

no "unwarranted hostility" there pal, you are the asshole who is being hostile, just the truth in how you "****in" headspace a "****in" AR, as for the "ball washer" comment...., GFY

Are we talking about a bolt or a bolt carrier group? Why would you need to replace the entire BCG and just the bolt?

Did you read the post? He bought an upper that didn't have a BCG so he was going to use one from another weapon. Regardless of whether it was the bolt or the complete BCG you still need to check the headspace.

I read the post. As I didn't know, I was just wondering why he was being told to buy a whole new BCG when I was always told all one needed to do was buy and headspace check a bolt. I was simply seeking clarification.

oh? that post on how to CHECK HEADSPACE (which had zero to do with my question) wasn't the least bit condescending?

i asked "how do you headspace an AR?" i did NOT ask "how do you check the headspace on an AR?"

as ARs' headspace is determined at the drawing board, i was surprised to see gunz state "As long as you PROPERLY headspace the weapon when you put the BCG ..." and was simply double checking that there wasn't some foreign voodoo technology escaping me.

if you thought i was asking how to check headspace and were honestly trying to be helpful, then my bad- but you seriously gotta rethink how your words are coming across in written format.

By the way folks,I called and ordered one of the USGI Field headspace guages from Bill Ricca today and he said they are selling fast.He said he could not believe how many of the guages he is selling right now after all these years.
So if you want one you had better get it while he still has some.
