How can I get an upper (yes, I said upper) BUIS co-witness with an Aimpoint?

Howdy all. I'm needing some help. Which Aimpoint Comp (ML3 to be exact) compatible mount will allow me to mount the sight as low as possible to my AR receiver but still be able to achieve co-witnessing of the irons (dual Troy flip-ups) in the upper portion of the optic?

That may be your best option but that may also give you an absolute co-witness, its been a while since ive had one of those mounts in my hands.

If i may ask, why do you want an upper 1/3rd cowitness?

I prefer the lowest possible cheek weld. It's just what's comfortable for me and makes the red dot show up the best. I also tend to dip my head down pretty low and then wind up looking over my glasses to see the red dot. After grabbing my rifle, the irons are only going to be flipped up until I can get the red dot turned on. After that, they will be lowered and I want the optic mounted as low as possible. Because of this, I only need to be able to use the BUISes through the optic for brief periods.

    Aggie,

Are you shooting nose to charging handle?

How low are you actually getting?

Ive experienced the same type of situation, ie looking over my glasses because im so close to the rifle but that is generally only when im prone and i dont have a strong cheek weld.

Perhaps a call to Larue will answer your question better than I?

Why is your red dot turned off in the first place?

Are you looking over your glasses at the iron sights?

a YHM riser in combination with the ring that comes with the Aimpoint gets it up high enough to cowitness, but keeps it low.. $20 part, and it's perfect for me

That's what I was thinking...with an ML3, no reason to turn it off.

Try looking at American Defense mounts. I use one on my ML3 and it wowitness' with my back up sights. I have a Brownells barrel type rear and a PRI gas block/ front sight.

Yes, nose very close to charging handle. Apparently I'm getting quite low because when I close my eyes and shoulder the rifle, my cheek bone falls right on top of the buffer tube, which means that the optic needs to sit lower than the standard 2.5" position. I currently have an EOTech mounted and when I shoulder the rifle in the most natural way, I'm staring right at the buttons on the back of the sight (can't see the reticle).

I guess I see the point that the Aimpoint can be left on but I don't think I'll personally be doing that. Either way, in the event that you grab the rifle and the optic is turned off OR if the optic goes down, I do want to be able to use the irons through the optic tube. I will however be running it with the optic on and irons flipped down 90% of the time.

Which one? They make three different heights. Supposedly the middle one gives an absolute co-witness while the tall one gives an upper 1/3 co-witness.

The middle one pictured is the one I use.
