The Daniel Defense M4 Lite Rail, a few details.

Well, since people have been asking, I got the answer.

Just got off the phone with Jay over at DD, and the Lite Rail will be pretty close to the weight of the old M4 rails. Price will be about $50 more than the equivalent model of the old style. Yes, they're still going to make the standard M4 rail.

I'll be ordering one of the 9.0 (or maybe 9.5 FSP) variety as soon as they become available, and will post a plethora of pics for the world to see. I might even throw in an in depth evaluation...

    Carry on.

I believe we are looking at the new rails being within 1/2 ounce of the old rails, and that will include a steel barrel nut.

They will also be released in the same configurations as the current rails, which means I'll be doing some updating in the next month. That DD 9.5 LITE has my name all over it.......

I'll also add that the new mounting system is the easiest, most fool proof way to align a rail that I've seen. DD has made perfect alignment of the upper receiver - rail fit. They have also done away with playing games with the gas tube alignment.

    Its like its heaven sent.

    That's sure pretty... Is it a 12.0?

I like the fact that the DD will allow me to run LaRue rings with my Short Dot, which will save a good 6 oz over my current setup... Add onto that the fact that I'll be saving a good 3 oz on the rail system, and you've got a noticable difference.

I'm looking forward to getting my hands on one (9.5 FSP looks like it might be the ticket), to say the least!

You need to hold a photo workshop. I'd pay to go.

I'm building an upper very similar for a friend when he gets the cash... Except, it'll be with a KAC flip front, BCM 14.5", and a TA31DOC. I've got the optic and front sight on hand, and I'll start rounding the other stuff up in a few weeks. He'll be utilizing the "special" feature of the RISII, and sighting in the Docter for that specific device.

That looks damn good, by the way.

Will the Lite rail work with the POF piston system?

    Thanks,
