You are going to have to cross wide open spaces, forested areas, semi-urban, and heavily urban areas. If you have a family, take that into consideration.

The S*** Has Hit The Fan(for whatever reason) and you have to get to coordinates that require you to(eventually) cross all these types of terrain. The general population must be considered potentially dangerous because they may want what you have.

You will have to spend nights in areas ranging from the forest to urban. Any and all situations have the potential to arise. You may stay in a barn one night, an apartment building in the city the next, and in a forest the next. Potentially deadly confrontations may occur in any one of these locations.
That's a damn near impossible scenario for anybody short of a well-prepared group or a highly-skilled lone wolf tracker type.

Over an extended period of days to weeks without safe haven or outside assistance, the likelihood of my particular family surviving such a scenario is essentially zero regardless of what gun I have. Our only hope would be to stay invisible, and we'd need basic supplies more than firepower.

But if it were certain death to hunker down, and only probable death to bug out, I'd hit the trail with my 9mm Hi-Power, and pack my second one for spare parts. Mags are Browning 13-rd Practical, with the eject-assist spring. In fantasy land, I'd have a threaded barrel, suppressor, light, and as many sub-sonic 147gr rounds as I could pack in on top of the necessities.

I love this kind of question!

I think most everyone has some thoughts of a survival gun. I know I think "survival gun" every time I buy a new gun. Can I carry it a long way? Can I get ammo wherever I go? What if I break or lose a part? Is it simple and reliable? Can I defend myself and hunt with it?

    1. Who would the manufacturer of your gun of choice be?
I like my Bushmaster ORC. I would also carry my Ciener .22 conversion kit.

    2. What model would it be?
ORC, it only weighs 6lbs before accessories

    3. What ammo. would you take?(if you had a choice)
I think out to 150 yards it doesn't matter. Hand loaded Barnes 62 gr TSX for deer hunting. For the Ciener: Wal-Mart Federal bulk and CCI Mini-Mags.

I'd be good for small game, large game and self defense.

    4. Which mags would you choose?(can't take it all)
    I trust my PMags

    5. What spare parts do you take?(Be reasonable)
I have an ergo grip that has a storage space:
Magnet sheet to slap on barrel for small parts while in the field,
extractor with an extra spring and pin and firing pin retaining pin

Got to have my Glock 19 too! You didn't see it so it doesn't count!

That's actually a really good idea.

I'm obviously in the minority, but I would carry a 12g, Rem Police. Ammo would be heavy, but the scenario didn't sound like an all out assault, but a survival situation where a variety of ammo could be helpful. I'd carry slugs and shot-00 through light game/fowl loads. If the SDHTF, I would be avoiding, and conserving, so I think a practical ammo load would suffice. Also it would allow me to hunt ANY game in NA as well as provide plenty of stopping power.

If I had to chose from what I already have.

    1. Who would the manufacturer of your gun of choice be?
    Colt
    2. What model would it be?
    6920
    3. What ammo. would you take?(if you had a choice)
    75gr. TAP 5.56
    4. Which mags would you choose?(can't take it all)
    my pmags
    5. What spare parts do you take?(Be reasonable)
    spare upper

Edit: The entire carbine would be sprayed to mimic a denim color/pattern, complete with some glued on buttons. Fabulously stylish and discrete.
