Sheared off the slide retaining pin yesterday on the LCP, this was after a little over 1500 rounds and no cleaning. The gun still ran fine for two magazines but then the trigger locked up. (i think the pin was pressing against the trigger spring.

Before 1911s were invented.... 1903 Colt .38 ACP. The family heirloom recently was taken for a spin:

I can see where the 1911 gets it's good looks from, beautiful Colt.

    New yard gun

This is somewhat a tribute piece from friends. The pistol belonged to Tom; I bought from him shortly before he won his battle with cancer. The suppressor was bought with a gift certificate Tom, John and Josh gave me for my birthday last September. To them I say thank you; I'm truly blessed to have friends like you.
I was really hoping that the Form 4 would come back a little sooner so Tom could shoot it, but in typical government fashion they were 24 days late. We had Tom's funeral last month.
I think he would approve of the end result though.

I thought that this would be a good first contribution to a picture thread, as today is father's day, and this little guy belonged to my father. It is an Astra Cub, date of manufacture about 1957, according to the serial number. My father was a member of the Navy UDT, and spent several tours in Viet Nam, some of that time as the heavy machine gunner on a river patrol boat, during which time he carried this little gun as a back up. Intersting if so, a .50 cailber and a. 22 short. He passed away 8 years ago, and is now buried in the National Cemetary in Cave Creek, Arizona.

The story goes that he was in some little shithole town somewhere in Viet Nam and won this gun in a card game from a South Vietnamese soldier. Now, this is not likely, but it makes a good story. It is possible that a Vietnamese got it from a Frenchman at some point, but if I remember my history, the French were already out of Indochina by the time this was manufactured...but stranger things have happened. Anyway, I like to believe the story, even if it's not true.
