    F/A BCG/Bolt Carrier

First of all, this isn't a thread about the uses of a semi or full BCG, but I want to ask a question. How often do you hear the legality BS mentioned at a gun shop when you say you have a F/A BCG in your gun? I was at a shop yesterday, where I'm friends with the manager (who runs a F/A BCG in several of his guns) and I was discussing the LMT I was putting together with one of the employees who has a 14.5 LMT on order, and I mentioned a F/A BCG. His response was "ooh, don't get caught with that" which I've heard from other employees there. I just looked at him, and pointed to the overpriced DD M4 they had on the rack behind him, and said "That has a F/A BCG in it, and so do Colts." He had no answer for that. The time I heard it before was when the manager and I were discussing a build. He just looked at his employee and shook his head.

So how often do you hear this shit?

Never. But I try to stay out of gun shops that are filled with these types and if I am in one, I am just looking and not talking to the people behind the counter, especially if they appear to be some knob.

There's alot of employees at this shop, like I said, I'm friends with the manager, but there's a handful of knobs there as well.

I have argued with people who work at gun shops on this very subject. They some how feel that by merely being on the other side of the counter they automatically know all legalities about firearms

T.A.B.O.O.= anything related or pertaining to the production, sales or use of the big bad boogey man....Mr. Full-Auto himself.

Obviously post '86 ATF campaigns clearly worked on the majority of americans. To mention running anything f/a is liable to generate 5 to 10 pages of "Dude, dont get caught with that" before a moderator has to cut the thread off. Not here obviously cause i've found m4 to be the most compact reliable info on any gun forum im a member of, but so so many are on the tele with atf before u can straighten their ignorance out!

Generally if I need to go to a gunshop it is usually for a targeted reason. I don't seek advice or ask for opinions. Otherwise I try to avoid them. I have been known to tell an employee or two that they should keep quiet if they don't know what they are talking about.

Well, the main reason I go in there is because yesterday I picked up a used Glock 19 OD for $299. The same guy was trying to tell me that the $189 Vulcan lowers they had were as good as the Territorial lower I picked up for the same price. My buddy is of the same opinions I am, but he does what's good for this local market. The general opinion in Vegas is along the lines of "my DPMS iz tha shit" and my friend does business accordingly. But after years of my coming in there, his employees should know not to try and bullshit me. So I just laughed, said bye to my friend and headed out the door. Lately I've been moving to the school of thought of buying it online, and sending it to a co-worker who has his FFL. But, for the times when this place has used Glocks for $299, and used M1A's for $999, I can't help but go in.

The Gun Store on Trop. They don't put them out like they used to, but they spend 60-90 days on their rental range, then they put them out. The last couple batches spent longer than 90 days out because of the Glock shortage, so my guy didn't call me, but this one was good. They put P226s out for $349, and I think they still have the HK USP9 compact for $499.
