Not too large a gun for me. Also considering getting a Glock 17 or 19. Leaning towards the 19. Any help or suggestions appreciated.
Don't get a Glock, just buy another USP barrel along with extra mags and a buttload of quality ammo for plinking and defense. The Tactical comes with a non-suck trigger already installed, so you don't have to worry much about the internals. The only aftermarket parts I would consider adding are tritium night sights by Meprolight.

I have big, goofy cartoon sized hands, so the USP Tactical in .45 was the answer for me, too.

If you want smooth and perty parts I'd try another brand...but you may sacrifice durability for perty at a higher retail price IMHO..
    Quite the contrary,
The gas keys on Colts are really roughly milled and you can see tool marks all over them.

The LMT circle mark on the top is indicative of a casting. In addition the LMT key is more evenly finished with no tool marks which leads me to also believe it is a casting.

Im not sure what to say.The carrier keys on all my LMT BCG's show very light mill marks all over and are clearly not a cast part..I can say for a fact they are pretty darn hard too.I tried to dress down the staking on one of the keys to remove the raised sharp points(due to the fact it cut me) and it about dulled my file.Had to break out the wet stone.
If your concerned about it drop LMT an email and see what they say.

    Yep.

    Staking looks fine.

As long as the metal is capturing the screws, you are fine.

LMT has been playing around with a new coating for the inside of their gas keys (FYI). It is black.

Thanks guys. They both shoot fine. But then again, my RRA bolt shot fine for 3,500 rounds with no apparant staking attempt at all, before Pat Rogers took a look during his class and MOACK'd it for me. That device really squeezed the metal into the screws, so that is what I was going off of as a comparison -- hence this post.

Good to know that it doesn't need to be that severely deformed into the screw heads to work. Appreciate the feedback!
