Yeah, call me crazy but I wasn't in love with the 12.0. I had a 7.0 on my RRA and that set up worked well for me. Remember, Low Speed High Drag. I saw no reason to modify the set up I've been running for a few years just because it's "new and improved".

So they must have changed the barrel nut out in order for the Omega to work. The barrel nut on the DD M4 will only work with the OmegaX.

Rainer will sale way more DD rifles then others if they are willing to swap that ugly ass rail out for something better, IMO.

Hmmm got me wanting a DD now..

They are switching it out; I'm paying a labor charge.

You might want to contact Rainier, they just dropped the price $50 to $1,549. I paid $1,599 Tuesday.

If there isn't a minimum number of posts required to post pics I'll upload one next week when I bring it home.

My thoughts exactly. This is one of the main reasons I bought this gun.

Switching from a DD Omega-X rail to a 7" rail is like buying a Corvette and changing the wheels out to 14" wheels with white walls.......

Maybe not so much for others but for my intended use the white walls will work. My goal is to have a basic, light weight HD rifle, not an ornament laden Christmas tree that also happens to shoot bullets.

    To each their own.

And the Omega X rail prevented your intended use how again?

My old Mustang GT could do 150mph, but that didn't mean that I had to drive it at that speed everytime I drove it.....

So what you are saying is that you opted to pay more ("labor costs") for an equipment downgrade?

It's your money but that was an odd call.

I am searching for a word. I think it's PERPLEXED. Just because you had the 12" rail didn't mean that you had to turn it into a Christmas tree and hang shit all over. Wonder what Rainier will do with the rail now? Hmmm.....

To each his own, I'm thinking about swapping the Omega X for a DD lite 10" rail, and lp dd gasblock.
