How high is that and what is the typical price range on the DDM4? $1700 is what I paid for my Colt 6940.

It is at least $100-$150 high IMHO.

I have no idea what the "typical" price range is. I only know what we sell them for.

Lowest is $1550, highest is $1900.

Mode seems to be $1600. Add FET and you're talking $1750 or so.

Most of the reputable dealers I'm aware of will be from $1500-1599 for the DD M4.

A shop local to me wanted $2099 for one. They also wanted me to pay $100 to transfer the one I bought from Grant because they had one in stock. Add about $200 in tax, and the guy wants nearly $2300 for something I could get delivered and transfered for under $1600. I'd like to patronize the shops local to me, but I'm not going to let them gouge my eye's out for the privilege.

The FET tax isn't paid by the end user.

Yes they do (indirectly). The manufacturer pays it and then passes it right along to the consumer.

The consumer never fills out the form and send a check to the Treasury Dept. though (so you are kind of correct).

I was just typing a clarification, about that because I knew someone would correct me. To further clarify a reputable dealer doesn't tack on the FET. I have heard of a few local transfer dealers that do. If a retailer has a price listed the only tax you should be paying is sales tax on that price.

This is a great resource for finding transfer dealers, I've found great local guys that do transfers very reasonable using this, to include one who does $20 NFA transfers. http://www.gunbroker.com/User/DealerNetwork.asp

    And yes Grant I do.

Edited to add: the DD would be my clear choice, between the two.

I bought mine when it first came out. 1549.00 IIRC plus 20.00 for shipping. No transfer fee or silly taxes.

Correct you are my friend. The Dealer does not tack on an additional FET amount because he has ALREADY paid it.
