I am low speed, high drag and I chose the DDM4.
The M&P was nice, and I am still saving for the aimpoint and sling, but I have been stock piling ammo and mags for awhile.
I bought mine from ADCO for $1400, minus the DD rail and MOE stock.

I've seen the Magpul S&W at 2 places, It's nice but pretty basic.

I went today and compared a Colt 6920, and a DDM4 side by side, The Colt was really nice in a retro kinda way.

Grant has another customer for a DDM4 I can't wait, but I will have to since MD is a wait state.

I think I'll probably swap the Omega rail out for a DD Lite Rail but after looking at them side by side I feel the DDM4 represents one of the best values in today's market.

DD! I am old enough to remember S&W caving to Clinton's strong-arm tactics. S&W? Not a snowball's chance in hell!

SMITH & WESSON BETRAYAL RUNS DEEP

"...the [S&W/Clinton] agreement dispenses with only a third of the municipal lawsuits, and binds only two federal agencies and two state attorneys general from filing future suits... other state and federal agencies can continue to threaten the industry, including S&W..."

On March 17, British-owned Smith & Wesson, Inc. (S&W), became the first gun maker to run up the white flag of surrender and duck behind the Clinton-Gore lines, blindsiding other members the U.S. firearms industry, and leaving them to stand with lawful gun owners and carry on the fight for the Second Amendment. Of course, there is no Second Amendment in Britain, where subjects are barred from owning handguns and many rifles and shotguns, and S&W's parent company appears poised to sell it to anyone willing to invest in a company fast becoming considered a pariah within its own industry.

S&W says the agreement with the Departments of the Treasury and Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is intended to exempt the company from non-existent federal government suits, and to ensure that it would be dropped as a defendant in a handful of reckless lawsuits filed by municipalities. Yet the agreement dispenses with only a third of the municipal lawsuits, and binds only two federal agencies and two state attorneys general from filing future suits. The remaining city suits are unaffected, and other state and federal agencies can continue to threaten the industry, including S&W.

The day following the announcement, HUD Secretary Andrew Cuomo and the mayors of Atlanta, Detroit and Miami moved to support S&W by insuring that their law enforcement agencies would purchase only the company's guns, making the agreement what appears to be an odd mix of extortion and bribe.

The 6940 may be a closer comparison because of the monolithic rail.

Sorry, didnt get back to this thread till now, had to go to work. I was trying to get the rifle by Monday, but I dont know if that will happen. By the time I got the FFL transfer information sorted out I couldn't get a hold of Grant and had to leave for work. Now I am not sure if I will be able to receive the gun by Monday(without paying so much for shipping that it would eat up the difference from just buying locally) so I think I am going to hold off for now. I will for sure be ordering the gun from you Grant, but now that I dont think I will be able to get it by Monday, I can wait a bit and save up a bit more cash. I have zero time(or ability) to deal with this tomorrow either due to work. Oh well. I will get one, just gotta wait a bit longer.

Oh and for those saying 1700 was to high, remember I said that was after tax. The price of the one local to me was 1599, plus tax. So the price of the gun isnt that far off from Grants price, but once I figure in sales tax it goes up quite a bit. After shipping and FFL fees from Grant I will save probably $100-125 over buying locally.

Just curious are you under some kind of deadline? Grant doesn't charge an FFL fee as far as I know, but your local FFL will. In most cases it is between 25.00-50.00 and shipping should be around 25.00 or so (just guessing based on my experience). Where I live the sales tax would be about 131.00.

I have a thing I can go to next Tuesday and was trying to get the gun by then, thats the only thing. I didnt mean to infer Grant was charging me any FFL fees, I meant my local FFL. Shipping was going to be possibly $100 for the overnight shipping required to get the gun to my FFL so I could pick it up on Tuesday.

I got to put 600 rounds through a DD M4 today. Felt like a Colt. Never had any failures of any kind and was very accurate. From what I saw, they are a top shelf gun. Good Luck
