Here is the response that I got from DD about the barrels.

    William,

Thank you for you interest in Daniel Defense. We are producing cold hammer forged barrels now. It still hasn't been determined when we will incorporate this new barrel with our rifles. The barrels will also be sold as an individual item. If you have any more questions please let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Joe Marler

Thanks for the update, so we were all right they are "going" to come with hammer forged barrels but they "arent" currently. Sounds good and they are going to offer just the barrels for sale too which is great.

Well, got the DD M4 today. Went to the gun shop to pick up some ammo and I asked if they had gotten any in stock and sure enough they had gotten in some on Friday. I had called Wednesday of last week and they didnt have any. I have bought quite a bit of stuff there over the past few months so the guy threw in a Streamlight TLR1 and a Shooters Ridge deluxe bi-pod. Got it for $1600ish tax included, retail on the light and the bi-pod is like $200 so I think I got a pretty good deal, I am happy with the deal at least. Gonna go shoot it tomorrow.

I think I am gonna ditch the rear BUIS for a Troy flip up. I am gonna put an Aimpoint on it and I want a clear field of view. So if anybody wants the DD BUIS let me know. I also have an ASAP plate to put on that I bought for the MP15 and I am trying to decide whether to have it put on or to pickup the swivel adapter(should it be in the case?) for the rear sling mount already installed.

I also gotta find a Pic rail adapter for the bi-pod, they make one, just gotta find somebody who has it in stock. I would have rather had a Harris, but this one was free so I cant really complain I guess. Anybody have any experience with the Shooters Ridge bi-pod?

No, but I am curious as to why you'd want to weigh down that carbine with any bi-pod...especially since you're adding an Aimpoint.

The rail adapter from the company is a quick disconnect so I dont have to leave the bipod on if I am not going to use it. The thing was free, why not take it and be able to use it. I am sure I will only use it at the range. The adapter is like 10 or 15 bucks so I will throw it on the rail and have it on there in case I want to use the bi-pod.

    Fair enough.
