    My workable AR

So, working off of a base 20" Bushmaster that's about 10 years old, I've slowly pieced together what I think is a pretty decent rifle. I know, I know, it's a bushmaster, but it works. This new upper has about 3k rounds thru it. The Gemtech has about 1k rounds. I just put the EOTech on it this afternoon, along with the VFG and the flash light mount. I've had the Z2 light for about 4 years. I Magpul'd out the grip and stock and magazines. I kinda cheaped out on a few things like the light mount and the VFG, but I can always upgrade those as I find something better.

Ok? Not bad? Toss it in a ditch? It's basically the first rifle I've ever modified in any way shape or form. All the rest of my stuff is pretty much stock.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having this one from VLTOR, but it's $60.00. It might have to wait until July. Even then though, old Z2 will have to be replaced too. That'll be another $100 or so.

Also, how do you like the Z2 as a weapon light. I'm thinking about one but it seams like it would be a little under powered.

zhurdan, what about replacing it with a G2? a g2 and that mount would put you at right about 100 bucks even. and if later you decide you need more oomph outta your light you Tactical Night Vision Company sells a replacement bezel that i think puts out like 200 + lumans or something crazy like that.

Not so much with the upgraded bulb. It puts out about 120L if I remember correctly, but it does have a tendency to chew thru the 123's.

    Thanks.

It's got a Surefire P61 lamp in it. It is 120L and according to the website gives about 20 minutes of run time, but I've probably gotten more than that out of those spendy little batteries. I carry it in my pocket of my jacket all the time, but it doesn't get used all that much. I actually have the original lamp for it that puts out 65L for an hour or so. I've thought about putting that back in for daily use, but again, I just don't use it all that much, but it sure is nice to have handy.

As for the barrel, it's factory fluted. I bought the Bushmaster Modular Carbine Upper. It came with an A2 FH, but I put the Bi-Lock FH on there so I could use the G5 on it. I actually bought the G5 for an SBR'd PS90 I have, but it'll work on both.

Looks good. Does the VLTOR light mount function any better than the one you have or are we just talking cosmetics?
