Very interesting.... It looks a lot like the ADC piston, which had a lot of potential that was never realized... Ruger is certainly known for making very durable and reliable firearms, but I must admit that I do not currently own any... That may change in the near future …

You never know, as the rifle is fielded and matures, it might become the piston standard?
Swapping out CAA junk for quality components is not hard, and relatively inexpensive.
About the 1/9, I wish I could shoot 45gr out of my DD, sometimes it's all I can find.
More companies being inovative is a good thing.

Is Arnold not building the ADC anymore? I have one of his uppers and I like it. Unfortunately I was only able to put a few hundred rounds through it before I left.

I know there is the cleanliness advantage (supposedly) with a piston, but to me the other half is having the option of a foldable stock. Do any of these AR pistons have that, or do they all still use the reciever extension, spring and buffer?
The Para TTR is the only psudo piston rifle that does not use the buffer tube that I am aware of.

Ah, GunBlast.com who carries on the printed gun magazine's tradition of never reviewing a gun they didn't like.

The Para is not a piston rifle in any way. It is DI but they moved the gas key outside the upper.

    NOT HARDLY!

I'm in the works for one right now.

I most likely will spend my saved up ACR money on one of these.

Always wanted a gas piston upper.

A Ruger anything is always a 'safe' choice.

I said Psudo piston as in does not vent gas into the chamber best of both worlds at least it is "supposed to be" well see but the point was that they are the only AR type I know of that allow for a fording stock

Bill Ruger has been dead for about 10 years now and Ruger the company has been offering 30 round magazines to the public for the mini 14 for a little over a year. They have had a good little pocket pistol for a while now. IMHO Ruger has atoned for any sin that their founder may have committed, not to mention that anyone who is still pissed at Ruger but has no problem with S&W is a hypocrite.

I have no desire for a piston driven AR but I wouldn't mind a Ruger branded Lower receiver as long as it doesn't have 2 chapters from the owners manual on the side of it.

    1. So let me get this straight...What they are calling the "Transfer Rod" is pinned/captured inside the top of the Troy rail system? What does this do to the freefloat-ability of the handguard?

    2. 1/9 twist? NOGO...

    3. I'm all for everybody and their brother putting out as many guns of as many types as possible. For instance, a Boeing designed rifle would likely be the coolest thing since sliced bread. So I have no complaints about Ruger putting out one also.

    4. The accoutrements are an interesting mix of high end (Magpul, Troy) and flea market (Tapco, CAA).

    5. So this is where all the Pmags have been disappearing to!

    6. The manual has more warning notices than an Apache IETM. 7 pages just to get to the table of contents and then numerous warnings throughout.
