Ruger has a much better dealer and distro network than any other piston AR maker.

These guns will turn up in unexpected shops and areas of the country. Ruger is in a good position to exploit this advantage.

However, no doubt there is going to be a huge gas piston shake out at some point, and HK hasn't even thrown their hat into the mix yet, so it could get interesting for POF, LMT, LWRC, Adams Arms, CMMG, ARES etc etc etc etc etc etc. This market segment is going to get more and more cut-throat as companies fight for the scraps.

MSPR is rarely the actual price on a gun.
I will withhold jusgement till I can hadle on in person. The only big downside I see so far is the 1/9 twist, which for most people is a minor problem at best.

    1/9 twist...why?

Oh well, hopefully this will free up some of the better products out there.

Thats what I am thinking I hope it pushes Rem/Bushmaster to release the ACR to maintain market share

Gas piston AR's are the new "WonderNine!!" - every single firearms manufacturer under the sun feels the need to put out their version.

Ten years from now people will be trying to figure out what all of the hoopla was about.

I wonder whose piston system they licensed or "improved upon"?

I see this as a good and bad thing.

Personally, im not a fan of pistons but i dont begrudge their existence and their acceptance.

The good side to this is that it could cause major competition in the world of pistons resulting in the possibility of lower priced offerings from some of the major manufacturers. I doubt it but who knows.

Also, was this thing at shot show? I dont remember seeing it.

specs say something about venting gas "out of the bottom of the gas block" or something. That is a new one to me.
