As a nod to Brownell's customer service, they took them back, exchanged them for new ones, and even gave me an extra mag for free -- plus free shipping. Now that's the way to treat a customer!

But to the original point, check the date of the mag -- the month and year should be stamped on the body somewhere, like 11 07, and if any are pre-2006, call Brownells and ask what the cut-off date was of the switch from C-Prod
Mine are all 08 or 09 production. I hope they told Cprod to pound sand, and found a good manufacturer or are doing them in house. I would give mine away if I thought they were Cprod. Cprod is the Olympic Arms of the mag world. They build crap, but attack anyone who points out their miserable track record.

That Idiot from Cprod had the balls to take a pot shot at Center Industries a few weeks back on Arfcom. I told him it was laughable that he'd post negative comments about ANY other mag company.

being the olyarms of mags, would you expect anything less? those guys are something special... they not only deny their product sucks, but even claim the things that make them suck are actually what makes them the "best AR15 style rifles on the market today."

All of my Brownell mags are 09 production. From the video on their website I was under the impression that they are making their own mags now.

I shot 250 Pistol at Gunsite in 2004 as part of my predeployment. Frank was one of the other students in the course. He and his company are good people. They back the products they sell and customer service is top notch. I bought a dozen of the socom tan mags but haven't had a chance to use them yet.

Had one in 50 of the 30rd SOCOM tan that gave me relatively consistent problems. The balance have been fine.

Most have been retrofit with Magpul followers.

There is a pdf file floating around on the internet cant find it but its out of a brownells catalog. It talks about many of the things brownells went throught to get there mags up and running it even shows a picture of the production line floor. Of the 11 mags I own the date codes 10-06,12-07,10-08,&01-09 all of the have stamped brownells montezuma next to the mag catch cut out. Except 2 mags that have the 10-06 date codes pretty sure that those are C-product magazine tubes on the back edge the spot welds don't look as even and clean as all the other ones.
And now that I think about it one of the 10-06 date code mags did give me 2 bolt over base malfunction half way through the mag when I was breaking in my LMT round numder 92& 94. I am glad I got into this thread. Can you exchange from brownells if I bought them from a local dealer I still have the plastic bag and cardboard tag?
