    Eotech Imitation sights

So I'm checking out Gun Broker for optics and wringing my hands at the prices when I decide to give Ebay a try. I ran a search for Eotech and some sights came up for $90. The sights are sold by midwestarmorycom (Ebay ID). I went to their website (Midwest Optics) and read about their company. Seems their products are made in Hong Kong and are used by the Chinese army. Has anyone used or purchased their products? Anyone ever heard of Midwest optics? They have a full line of Eotech look a like gear.

    Welcome to the board!

You won't find a lot of love here for the EOTech and even less for Chinese Knock-offs.

Be prepared to put on your big boy pants with some of the comments sure to come from your post.

I have and use a EOTech 512 on my SBR and like it. The battery life is no where near as much as my Aimpoint, but I like the reticle and sight design for the intended role of this rifle. That said, EOTech has had some issues with some models of their sights battery contacts. It seems to be somewhat resolved now, but you are talking about a chinese made knock-off of a sight that has had problems in the past. How good could it be?

Then of course there is the fact that they are pirating a US design, and your money would be going to support and encourage those efforts.

I think your $$$ would be better spent on a used genuine Aimpoint or EOTech, than on a Chinese Knock-off of either.

That's just my opinion though as I have never purchased nor used the particular optic you mention, nor have I ever done business with Midwest Optics.

Alarms bells should be ringing in your head the moment an claim "in use by military units" is made that can't be substantiated. See "Counter Sniper Optics."

BTW- I heard that Eotech is aware and they are working on an appropriate course of action. I believe that eGay has been notified also.

    Sticking with what I know

There is no way that I would purchase a Chinese knock off. I tend to gravitate to gear that I know will work. When it comes to optics I trust the M68 and Aimpoint. Good enough to engage insurgents in Mosul and good enough to serve on my rifle on the homefront. I just thought that I would share that site with you all. It is no fun being the lone angry American.

good. and i hope that they take it to court and absolutely ass rape the little copyright infringing bastards responsible for this.... with out lube. and egay should def get something thrown at them as well as the other (American) companies knowingly selling these things.

there is also a knockoff Aimpoint 3x magnifier on there as well, im going to send an E-Mail to aimpoint informing them of this, incase they dont already know.
