I think a rugged red dot, and a rugged weapon light are essential items for this type of rifle. Once you start adding laser aiming devices, or night vision mounts it's no longer a simple rifle in my opinion.

PSA mid upper on a Bushmaster lower. I know, everyone’s favorite.
It was an H2 on my patrol rifle. It was a cold winter in Vermont and the unit was left on. I can’t remember the brightness level it was on. I know there is a thread here about it. It was not at the max setting. It was on for a fairly short time, 2-3 months. It was well below the often touted years of battery life. I took the rifle out to look at it and was surprised the battery was dead. When I read the manual, ass backward, after the fact. It performed as it should have. It was 100% my fault. All of my RDS are now off and I have DD or similar BUIS on my guns. That was a good training scar. Learning occurred.
I found one of the old threads. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread...g-it-off/page2

I was thinking the same thing. I cringe when people ask cops for opinions or says they do something because so and so does and they're a cop. Most cops I know are not interested in guns. The frew Green Berets I know are gun guys and they can shoot! That's a skewed sample. We're friends because of our interest in guns and hunting. That doesn't make them expert in all things firearms.
