Is there room to mount a BUIS with an ACOG? My Marine son (1371) says he never fired a round using iron sights with a M4/M16, strictly RCO (ACOG) and never saw a Marine with a mounted BUIS.

In the spirit of KISS, just ordered one of these as a range toy. Although I know the Melonite barrel is a turn-off for some folks:

There’s room, but you cant flip them up with the ACOG in place.

Disclosure: I am affiliated PRN with a tactical training center, but I speak only for myself. I have no idea what we sell, other than CLP and training. I receive no income from sale of hard goods.

I've always wanted an ACOG. I was talking about something requiring a battery. I have no experience with the ACOG.

Here are a few of my KISS rifles.

I have a few set up like this. This lives under the bed in a VLine case.

The M4s have been replaced by Patrol Optics and M3's.

For me, I need to set the gun up to fit the issues I have.

I need a red dot if I'm to engage anything without having to take the time to close one eye.

I also need a mounted light so I'm not at a disadvantage in the dark.

A VFG allows me to work around problems I have with my shoulders, and wrists.

A "KISS" gun works, but not as effectively for me now that I'm older, slower, half blind, and half crippled.

My only "KISS" guns are my Mauser, and my shotgun.

    My idea of KISS...

Not very KISS is it? Lol.
You know what I like best about most people?

    Their dogs.

I'm not making an argument either way, just stating a fact. In fact, two of my three rifles have back up sights, and I'll very likely never use them in self defense. The only reason my third rifle doesn't have back up sights is because it's short enough that my hand goes where the sights would, and it's the last rifle I would grab in a defensive situation anyway.

Everything you need and nothing you don’t, that’s as KISS as it gets.

I think it fits the definition. It’s purpose built.
