I have a purchase proposal for Troy BUIS, but with budget cuts it may be a while. On that note I train my guys to use the T-1 as a rear site in case the dot goes down. At our last qualification one of the T-1's went dead and I did not have a replacement battery with me (this was corrected later on). My officer, using the techniques I had taught him, was able to qualify with a 100% score on our standard qual with a dead Aimpoint.

As I work with this gear more and more I have come to the conclusion that a fixed front site is the way to go and that BUIS are over rated for 99% of LE work. I want them on the guns but it is getting harder and harder to believe that they are essential from my experience. If I was Mil. I would have a different view as the supply train is not the same. Hell, if I was Mil. my guys would be running the Aimpoint M4s because of the battery issue. We issue an M4 rifle to every officer and could not justify the extra $200 per unit cost for the M4s. It came down to the M3 and the T-1. Every officer voted for the T-1 after head to head evaluations on the range.

Kinda glad to see this thread back. My "KISS" work carbine:

    spankaveli,

How is that sling attached up front? Does it stay put?

It's attached with a Blackhawk Singlepoint Sling Adapter and yes, it stays put. I have the same setup on the front of my AKs. However, I have another solution in the works that might prove to be more easy to attach/remove (not on the fly, however)

(the AR below is same as above but I was trying out different front attachment options...)

Here is my light weight KISS. PWA A1 lower, Colt stock, BM C7 upper, Colt factory 14.5 1/7 barrel with a pinned on Vortex, Sling Systems 3 point sling and a SF 649 light kit.

One important thing missing A BUIS? all optics fail and there is no back up in that picture. Also I used to have a M500 they weight a ton. Add a BUIS and it will be a usable rifle.
