Rob, in this particuler case, I dont see the point of having the rail attached to the stock hand gaurds. You could mount a VFG to there, it would move all over the place there.
The fact he doesnt have anything mounted, Id have to agree pull it off.
However, Id pull it off and go with DD omega rail, or something of the sorts.
KISS rifles are exactly that, STUPID. I would not even use one for a truck gun.
Leave it on and attach a light. At least with it an X300 could be slid on in a pinch. Take it off and.....

here's my only rifle, for now, and when the time came for my optic, I bought the Sig, spare BCG and Aimpoint clone instead of just an aimpoint, I'll buy one once this thing keels over.

I'd think a person would also want to change out the rears sight to an A2 or at least something with a large apeture. I used a light in conjunction with an A1 rifle and it didn't work that well. I ended up getting a carry handle mount and sticking an aimpoint on it until I scrapped the whole project and went back to more modern AR rifles for serious use.
By the way LonghunterCO, is you SBR supposed to look like a specific rifle colt made?
A Colt Model 653. Orgional from the factory with 14.5" barrel 1/12" twist barrel. This is a replica of an Israeli one that are often cut down over it's service life. Several pictures show them with 6 o'clock rails with light (I have the rail but have not got the light for it yet). Many are seen with Goose neck mounts to a red dot sight one the A1 carrying handle upper) Internally this build has some difference from the 653: this barrel is a Colt 12.5" 1/7" twist. The sights are an A2 apature, and the LPK is one from Grant at G&R.
I see. Neat rifle. I've been thinking about building something like an sp1 carbine, but the fact that it would actually be cheaper to build a flattop carbine and stick my spare aimpoint on it has me unsure what to do and thread like this don't help. I have a few rifles equipped for social use and I have fun building retro rifles, but it's hard to spend a $1000 on a gun that's more for fun than anything.
This one isnt mine, its my best friends but I LOVE it
