Did anyone make it by the KAC booth? I'm interested to hear more about the SR-15 E3. Release dates? Pics?

For those of you who were curious, it requires a 34mm ring, included in the package, to mount it to your black rifle. I guess we will have to wait for LT to break out his pencil and draw up a mount for us.

One gem we found was a 1-4x optic with a lit circle/dot reticle made by Millet (12 moa circle, 1 moa dot if I remember correctly). Clear glass, target turrets and rear focal plane (that means the dot doesn't become the size of a VW when you go to 4x). It was a nice optic if you wanted to try a variable power application before you drop a grand on some serious glass. Not to mention for $200 you can't go too wrong even if it ended up on your truck gun.

The Kel Tec 308 bull pup was interesting but the price tag was insane. They didn't have prices in stone or even wet sand but were guessing ~$1.9K for the short barrel out to almost $3k for the 32" barrel. That would be ok if it performs but the part I found difficult to accept was the fact that the barrel lengths were not interchangeable (one gun, one barrel length). If you wanted to go from a 16" barrel to a 32" barrel, you were headed to the shop to buy another gun.

Just a few highlights from the road less traveled. I will try to post some more tidbits if anyone is interested.
The eye relief is about the same as the Aimpoint 3X and has a much wider FOV (and is cheaper).

The end answer is that the Magpul crew busts their collective asses to get things done, but even they run into snags when they are forced to deal with outside manufacturers. I would like to see them available for commercial sales in 12 months or less, and I'm sure they would as well. If the people they deal with are able to meet timetables as forecasted, I'm sure it will happen.

Ah yes, TOS. Did I mention that I don't miss the village idiots that live on there???

Here you have a company sticking their neck out to build a better weapon system, and all people can do is bitch about how old the weapon really is.

Their factory stuff is good, but the way I spec'd out the uppers and complete weapons is better.

The only downside I see is that they have raised their prices a lot for 2007 and might scare off a lot of consumers.

If anyone is ineterested, I posted a long review of the show on 1911forum.com and will continue to add to it over the next day or so as time permits.

    Rob, that's a great thread.

Thanks again for the NH/VT light railed gun pictures. I appreciate you going out of your way for me. I owe you one.

The polymer lower was designed, and redsigned, and redesigned again until the project was simply scrapped, and they started from "scratch" a few months back by abandoning the AR platform.

So, to answer your question, Stickman did indeed play with a Masada, but his didn't have anything but plastic receivers, a barrel, and a trigger. IIRC that Masada was sent to him some time in November only a few days after WE got to play with it for the first time. The internal parts were finished only days before SHOT, allowing us to test fire the weapon before the show.
    Nick, thanks for the clarification.
