Yes I would say that's reasonable.

Threads pretty much done but Im slipping in my thoughts in anyway.
I clean mine after every use, regardless of round count. A couple of passes with a boresnake and run a patch through after to make sure it's clean. I tend to put more attention on the BCG, in particular the rear of the bolt and the inside of the carrier where carbon tends to crust.

Question on solvents : I take it theyre ok on the bore on occasion? I hear some may damage the chrome. Whether this is true or not I have no idea. JUst something I read somewhere.

You can't do damage to a chrome lined barrel from cleaning it unless you're really doing something wrong. Firing a bullet down it in front of 50,000 psi of extremely hot, burning propellant is a lot harder on a barrel than passing a brush and patches through it.
I guess you track your cold bore shots then, right? And do you know exactly how the rifle will shoot until the bore is fouled enough that it is consistent?

Crowns and throats have been damaged many, many times by overcleaning. Pat Rogers says that he has found that overcleaning is worse on rifles than just shooting them.

I never cleaned the inside of the BCG or the rear of the bolt. somebody once told me it was self cleaning... you don't need to scrap the carbon as it will blow itself away once it gets too thick. how true?

For my M&P pistols, 2-3K rounds is reasonable for me. Hell, one has over 4K rounds fired and no cleaning.

solvents cant hurt chrome. they can only penetrate really soft metals, like copper and lead

Hey man I am one of the people that thinks that over cleaning is happening to much.
I have cleaned pistols with a pencil and paper towels and couple drops of hoppes.
I don't recommend it but I have done it in years past.

Carbon on the bolt tail will not effect the function of the rifle. That would be the absolute last thing that I cleaned. I would concentrate on cleaning that will effect functioning, i.e. barrel extension, bolt and inside of carrier. If you use wolf it would be good to clean the chamber too.

for a pistol... I find that very scary. 600 is my max. I can actually feel the grit grinding on the action of the slide.

for an AR rifle maybe 600 is just fine. Im sure iv reached that back on my old barrel. But we're talking about a new barrel here
