If those were your only 2 options my first response was going to be go with which ever one you can get the best deal on because they both are great rifles from what I have heard. However, I am one who does not like to have what everyone else has. Bushy's are a big seller to the general population and I like to have something a little less known so I woud go with the DS, but that is just MO so go with what your gut says because both are fine rifles.

    Lightbulb

I've owned a DoubleStar before - very nice entry-level AR rifle. TRUE 5.56 chamber, which you don't ALWAYS get on a Bushmaster (ask Iraqgunz about THAT...). If the opportunity presented itself again, I wouldn't mind having one of their CAR's as my plinker/KISS rifle.

I once owned a Bushmaster 20" service rifle that I tricked out for DCM Match. It was a nice enough rifle and was probably capable of much greater accuracy than the loose nut behind the trigger.

That said, I am a little bit pissed off with Bushmaster over the whole Magpul/Masada deal right now and am boycotting all of their products. They deserved to be punished for stringing us all along over this whole deal. In retrospect, I think Magpul should have sold the design to Ruger; It'd be in our hands by now.

I will avoid beating a dead horse. As I have stated before if you buy an AR or other similar weapon it should be for SHTF TEOTWAWKI first and everything else second. So having said that why would you buy two second or third rate weapons which have a record of not being being up to snuff? If you can't afford a Colt, LMT, Daniel Defense or Noveske now, wait another 2-3 months and then get one unless if is urgent.

First and foremost the weapon has to be reliable and put together right. Any one of the AR's mentioned are capable and accurate enough to do the job.

However, I sense that you will opt for something else and then you will learn the hard way as have others here before you.

I own both and while they are both decent guns, the DoubleStar is my favorite.

If you haven't allready look into CMMG and their ARs, they are really well made (from my experience) and quite affordable, even by today's standards.

IMHO, why spend $1100-$1200 on a Bushmaster when you can buy a Colt or other top manufacturer for just a couple hundred bucks more?
