    Colt Delta 10mm...

Every once in a while we get a customer who wants to have a pair of guns built, for a special occasion, for using, collecting, or whatever. Ted is quite well known for them, matched pairs that is... complete with cases and tools and all of finest trimmings. And although not exactly a “matched” pair, the gun featured here is part of a set of guns I did that together are probably best be described as fraternal twins.

The set began with a 38 Super Colt Government Model I built in late 2007. Shortly after taking delivery of the Super the customer sent a Colt Delta 10mm to the shop with instructions for making it just like the last gun. The only difference was to be in the finish with the Delta being done in nickel and fit with black stocks to keep with the ‘black and white’ theme of the last gun. Pretty cool... a composed pair of Colts in a couple of neat calibers. Fast forward to now and the latest addition to the set is complete...

Like its medium-bore twin this gun was a Best Grade build complete with a welded frame and slide fit, 30lpi hand-checkering front and rear, flattened and serrated slide top, complete line straightening, S&A grip safety, match grade barrel (in this case a Schuemann), a Legacy Custom mainspring housing machined into the frame, a Novak rear sight with a tritium front, and all the best quality internals throughout the gun including one of EGW‘s new machined thumb safeties. The only major difference between the two guns was to be the finish and the stocks with this gun getting a full nickel finish and VZ Operators.

Pretty cool to be able to do a “black and white” pair of Colts in different calibers, both guns made for a very fun project. Now all I’ve got to do is talk the owner into a two-tone 9x23 to make the set really interesting. Enjoy!

    Amazing. Fantastic looking gun.
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.

Very few artists get to work in such a functional medium, and I always enjoy it when you share a line or two about how much you enjoyed working on a project like this one.

Some guys work a bench to pay the bills. Others are craftsmen who appreciate the compensation, but find their true motivation in turning a pile of steel parts into something that is both extraordinary and enduring.

As usual, your results speak for themselves. Majestic.

If that gun belongs to who I think it does (my boss), he's going to love it.

NOW I'm missing my 10mm again... and just when I thought I'd gotten over her...

    GREAT looking piece.
