    115 grain 9mm Gold Dot

This was the only 9mm GD ammo available at my local gun shop. I know it does not appear on the recommended list. Question: If reserved for home defense/self-defense use (little chance of glass or steel barriers), would it suffice?

Of course it would suffice. Certain rounds preform better than others in flesh and jello. I wouldn't feel at risk if I had to shoot a human with your loading. I promise you will never find a sober man that volunteer to be shot even with 9mm FMJ.

It's not a bad load, it's just not the best of the 9mm Gold Dots, and it's certainly better than any other 115gr 9mm I can think of, excluding DPX..
