Not only is Kotonics now Cardinal, but Cardinal is now going out of business.

I have one of their 12.5" barrels which I will be selling soon since my Noveske appears to be almost ready!

    define "best":

    most accurate?
    most durable?
    best value?
    intended use?

    etc...

ARPerformance makes great stuff too! I would call them a semi custom or full on custom, tailored to spec.

Anyone know why Cardinal Armory/Kotonics is going out of business soon? I had not heard this.
I actually had a bad experience with one of their bbls. The damn feed ramps were not DEEP enough, and the bullet nose was hitting the bbl extensions feed ramps because of this.
Others have liked their stuff though.

However, as was stated, the Noveske and AR15Performance builds are MUCH better, and the best you can get.

From what I understand, Kotonics got a large shipment of barrels that were improperly chrome-lined and was unable to return them. Quite a few of these barrels went out as sales before problems started to appear. The cost of having to take the sales back and eating the bad inventory forced the company into liquidation.

Its a shame, because Tim did much to get the 6.8 from its initial stages, and his 18" SS upper that he made for me shoots unbelievably tight groups for a semi-auto weapon (ten shot groups of 0.5MOA at 100 yards)

You know, that's interesting. I guess they don't check their bbls too carefully upon receiving them.
The one and only bbl I received from them (mentioned above), also had a really weird "mystery" blemish that I could clearly see down inside the bbl. (it was NOT the gas port hole).
It was almost like a raised burr on one end, and a "rough textured patch" on the other end.
They didn't want to believe me at first, but finally saw it for themselves and returned my money.
That was 2-3 years ago, when they were first getting going good...
Noveske for me all day long....

What's wrong with the LMT barrels? I was thinking about getting a barrel and bolt for my MRP and trying it out.
