New Daniel Defense Micro Mount & Front Sight

Larry Vickers brought a preproduction sample of the new Daniel Defense detachable front sight and a new mount for the Aimpoint Micro T-1 or H-1 to a recent class that I attended.

The new mount and front sight are designed to work perfectly with the Daniel Defense rear sight that they brought out with their carbine. The BUIS and mount are designed as a set.

The new units are very impressive, they allow for perfect co-witnessing and are very, very light......you notice it immediately when you pick up the Mk.18 type that was equipped with the DD rail, BUIS, and new mount.

The production front sight will be slightly different than these preproduction models, but these are a good representation of what we can expect from Daniel Defense.

The mount and front sight look good. I'd like to know how the front sight compares to the LMT in weight and how the mount compares to the Larue/ADM mounts in weight. I really like the slim contours of the sights.

Exactly my thoughts as well. They should be snag-free.

    Thanks for the advance peek!

I like the direction DD is going with these sights and the Micro Mount.
I have never had much of a requirement for QD irons, nor with a 1X with a generous window.
Provided that they stand up to use, kudos to those that brought these to market.
    Any ballpark on the price/availability?

    Templar,

Thanks for the post and pictures. The Rear Sights are currently shipping as an individual item. The Micro Mounts are currently in production and the the MSRP has been set at $70. We hope to be shipping these in a few weeks. I can't remember off the top of my head the exact weight, but I am pretty sure the mount and Aimpoint Micro T-1 weighs approximately 2 Ounces lighter than the ADM mount with the same optic.

We still don't have a definitive lead time on the front sight as it is still in the developmental stages. We will try to keep everyone posted on our progress.

I was just talking to someone the other day that I would like to have a mount without the QD for certain applications.

Love the front sight and lack of the nut like the LMT has as well.

I may be wrong or ignorant or jus plain idealistic, however I feel that between companies like Daniel Defense, Magpul, and a few others, we are at a turning point with the AR15 platform. The number and quality of accessories that are available seems almost off the chart.

Are those helicoil type inserts in these devices?

If so that is a great sign of thoughtful design.

Is there a regular Aimpoint mount in the works?
