when the front sight is released, i'm getting one for sure. i haven't bought the rear yet because a lack of slim fixed front sights to use it with but my prayers have been answered

    Tim,

Great pics. You're going to put me out of business.

I have two (2) of the BUIS on order. Can't wait to get them.

    Another for a absolute co-witness.

DD Micro Aimpoint mounts are in stock!

They will also be making an absolute co-witness model for those interested.

Please help a newbie. I'm picking up my Colt 6920 tomorrow. Does the upcoming absolute cowitness version of this DD mount mean all I need is an Aimpoint Micro H1 and this mount to get a lighter, faster aim compared to the rear sight/carry handle that will come with the Colt?
In other words, using absolute cowitness with the original front sight gives red dot advantage and acts as its own backup upon failure??

Happy, I would say that's the theory, but I would add "at very close range". What you describe is why I want an inexpensive absolute mount. I want to give the concept a try without breaking the bank. I will still, however, be using a BUIS on the rifle, just a fold-down rear. I think that placement of the optic fore/aft may play a part as well and I'm thinking that mounting it as far forward as possible to make the tube appear smaller may be the answer.

I believe Katar has been messing with this concept. I'm sure he'll pop in and clarify.

IMO yes. You can get pretty darn good hits through a small diameter tube that is absolute co-witnessed, much more so than you can with a lower third/large diameter. YMMV of course.

edited to add that I agree with Rob about mounting the optic farther forward to optimize this and also that I would still run a folding rear.

Rats - thought I could forego the folding rear so there would be room for a flip in/out magnifier. Not much rail room on the Colt 6920. In all cases, I keep the original front sight, because I'm not running a long rail like the 6940, right? In any case, this new mount looks great. Thanks, Daniel Defense!
