You're starting to complicate things. If you go with an absolute cowitness mount you're going to have to find an absolute cowitness magnifier mount, and that may or may not be available as a tip-off mount or whatever.

    FYI (click for bigger pic)

I really like that optic set up, Rob S.

Can you share which products you used to get that set up? And is that 1/3 co-witness?

That's a 1/3 Larue mount, with a larue PoBoy behind it, and a Magpul MBUS under that. I actually don't run this gun that way, and want to replace the LT mount on the T-1 with one of the DD absolute mounts.

    Thanks Rob S.

DD absolute mount sounds like a better configuration. Is there an absolute co-witness magnifier mount?

So will the lower 1/3rd Daniel Defense mount place the T1 at the exact same height as the Larue mount? I'm looking for drop-in compatibility with the Larue Aimpoint 3x pivot mount.

Yes (if you have the tall LT mount).

If you're talking about the Magpul MBUS, no it is not same plane.

    Here's a wild one ...

Why not put a aperture (oversized?) of some sort in the hollow space in the T1 mount, then have some sort of reduced height front sight assembly (perhaps with both windage and elevation adjustments) and eliminate the rear BUIS assembly entirely? Reading a lot of the trainer and high round count user posts, modern red dots go down extremely rarely. Why spend the money, weight, and rail space on a conventional BUIS?

Getting a little off course here guys, how about starting a new thread discussing absolute co-witness vs. lower 1/3rd......
