My thought as well. Sell the carry handle for enough to get a LMT BUIS.

Didn't you ask this before when you first got yours? I thought your question was answered back then.

    spamsammich,

it was never answered. in fact until now, I don't know what cast looks like. or cast marks if there are any. I just assume that forge will be heavier than cast. but again. I have nothing to compare it with.

I know there is not much other than cut the sucker off but maybe what works best and ways to touch it up after the fact.

Take it down to your PD garage/ fleet maintenance shop, and hit it with a grinder. It takes 30 seconds. Touch it up later on with alumablack, and you are all set. I also did a few with a bandsaw and benchgrinder, but cutting with a regular hacksaw or dremel will work easily as well. Any black spray paint will work, you can spray it in a cup and slap it on with a cotton swab if you don't want to spray the entire unit.

The below one was an aftermarket CH that I did with a saw, and then did a quick cleanup with a bench grinder. Its a simple and quick deal no matter how you do it.

One thing I do is keep the supporting/ clamp bar a little long for greater surface contact.

It would but after my spending spree last year my better half has me on gun stuff lock down. Thought that I would give this a try for an extra buis.

There is no reason to pay $100 for an LMT buis, if you have a carry handle laying around.

"IF" i were going to pay money for a fixed BUIS, I would buy a Larue instead.

6 months ago I would have agreed with you (and did, with my wallet) but today I'd go with the Daniel Defense.
