    Also there are some gunsmiths who can remove the hardened Colt block to allow the use of M16 carriers.

    I've seen some lowers that Sam Hatfield did this on and they came out great.

    Were there any issues in cutting off the block, since I heard its made of hardened steel?
    I am thinking of de-blocking one of my Colts.

    It was simple. I used a cut off wheel and cut the sear block flush with the lower. It was a ten minute job. Do it yourself is it easy.
