    If the eraser doesn't work, try a very mild abrasive, like toothpaste.

    I put a piece of electrical tape over the lens when not shooting at night.

    +1. easy to apply and remove, and very effective. quickest and best fix yet.

    I simply place a drop of weapon oil (Militech, 10-8, etc) on the lens and rub it evenly across the surface with my finger. When I'm finished shooting I wipe it off with a rag.

    I thought the adhesive comes off and makes a mess when hot?

    This is also what I do.
