    Which Scope?

First post here, but I have found a lot of good info from this site and I am hoping I can get some more.

I am going to buy a scope and LaRue mount from LaRue for my AR-15. I have it narrowed down to three scopes but my knowledge of optics is a little limited so I am asking for thoughts on the matter.

    Trijicon 1.25-4X24 AccuPoint

Burris XTR Tactical Rifle Scope 1X4-24mm

    Howdy Neighbor

I don't have a response for your scope question...just wanted to say hello from another Ozark Hillbilly. I was born in Gainesville which is the county seat for Ozark County and raised around Theodosia.

    Two questions

    1. Primary role?

    2. Why stuck on Larue? Why not find the scope first and the best mount for it later?

    I guess that was three.

I have a Burris XTR 1-4 with fastfire red dot. Great scope and an awesome reticle. The horseshoe isn't the greatest for precision shooting but it's great for quick acquisition at a distance and pretty quick up close. The clarity is just about as good as my ACOG or my friends Nightforce ( 1-4x). Good eye relief and the illumination is visible in daylight. The fastfire red dot isn't terribly useful considering the scope is very clear at 1x.

What I don't like. The scope is pretty long compared to other 1-4x. Despite that it's not too heavy at 17oz. without the fastfire. Adjustments for elevation and windage have a faint 'click' when adjusting. It's there but it can be easy to over adjust. Not a big deal.

All in all I like it better than the Nightforce due to the price and awesome reticle. Again, I think it's a little big but not too bad.

The Trijicon Accupoints are very nice. I'd also highly recommend the triangle reticle 1-4x.

    1. The primary use is just a fun gun, zombies. I already have a AR with a Eotech and have decided that optics are needed as I get older.

    2. LaRue builds good stuff and if you buy a package from them you save money. They have three of the four scopes I was looking at so why not.

The Trijicon AccuPoint 1-4x24 30mm Riflescope, German #4 Crosshair will probably be my next purchase after I set up my DDM4 (this one will be my KISS and Light rifle). You might want to look at this one, it is also listed on Larue's site:

Next question, Does anybody know how long a Trijicon is warranty for or how long the tritium will last?
