I never had any intention of ever putting a rail on my ARs or using a VFG. Why bother? I'm a recreational shooter that primarily hunts with my AR with a very few local 3 gun matches. I had no intention of railing the N4 Basic Recce upper I had. Then I stumbled into a "deal" on a N4 Carbine that had a DD 7.0 rail and snapped it up. After a couple months I broke down and tried out a TD stubby - the new QD one. $95 worth of curiosity. And I gotta say, I like it. Standing off hand shot rapidly at 50 yards, I do find the VFG to hold more steady.
