Grant, I built a 7.5" with a Rainier Ultra Match barrel. The gas port is only .056. I didn't think it would run with that small of a gas port. But it has been a great running upper suppressed or unsuppressed. I don't have an answer for it unless it's the "ratchet rifling"
My Rock River 10.5" had the gas port opened to .078 to run unsuppressed.
9mm buffers and stock carbine buffer spring.
BCM FA BCG's.
I agree that the smaller gas port has many advantages with less crud, wear, blow back, and the recoil isn't bad.

Hey, this thread needs to be resurrected.
And stickied.
Grant, what gas port size was used for these guns?
10.5'', and 11.5''.
When KAC lets out their SBR uppers, I'm going to try to get one ordered without a GP drilled in, then have ADCO do one that's like .060''.
Does anybody know what the lifespan of Nickel Teflon is?

We miss you, AC.
We miss you, ToddG.
I am not sure where this quote was taken from, but believe it has to do with the fact that the bolt won't lock back on the last round if the can is not on.
Now to me, this is no big deal (as my AK doesn't do it either). To some though, the fact that the bolt doesn't lock back without the can means the end of the world.
C4
Might not be the end of the world but it's still a sign of short stroking.
