    Rail mounted front sights.

Recently installed a larue rail system and magpul front and rear sights. With the sights zeroed my rear is pushed far to the left and my red dot sits off to the right of my front sight post. Would this mean the rail is somehow crooked or is this acceptable? Where I aim with both systems the bullet goes just want to make sure it's normal to have to adjust the rear sight so much if you have a rail mounted front sight. This is my first rifle with a flip up front sight and just want to be sure...

    Front sight

    Exactly.

Do you want to aim the rail or the barrel and bullets?

I just want to know if it's normal for a larue rail to be crooked and how to fix it

its normal. "off" by how much, is the question- if you're able to zero, then you have no problem. for a standard FSB and A2 rear, it think 23 clicks left or right is considered within tollerance. are you more than 23 clicks?

Its probably not the rail , but the upper. Most likely the upper is not true where the barrel extension sits or barrel nut treads.

you seriously think the least likely cause is the most likely cause?

It's 12 clicks left on a MBUS which with this compared to the troy sight seems to be much farther over meening there seems to be more rotation per click on the MBUS. Anyway after looking down the upper and the rail I can see that the rail is a little crooked (to the left). Would I be better off buying a vice block and try to take it off and put it back on myself or sending it out to someone? Thanks...

hmm.. well Troys are half-click, as i recall- maybe MBUS is full click?? that'd be wacky..

how crooked is it? i think you're probably ok, though- you said it's zero'd, right? i'd leave it alone. just banging your gun around can shift your rail, so "fixing" it isn't likely to really fix anything, in the end. your call, though.
