    Russian Mosin Nagant M44

By no means is this a precision rifle when compared to some custom 700, but a bolt gun none the less. I just picked one up with a suprisingly shiny and pit free barrel. Im looking for a scope mount, but dont intend to have my bolt cut and tapped. Do any of you bolt gun guys know of a somewhat solid scout mount that mounts on your rear sight that you'd trust? I just didnt want to but complete junk if at all possible.

    Thumbs down

I can only give my experience with one mount, the one that CDNN sells.

Don't waste your time with that one.

The aluminum is so soft that you'll strip the screws long before you get them secure enough to retain zero. As I was tightening down the base, I was giving the screws 1/4 turn and checking for wiggle, and so forth. Well, I stripped two of the screws before I even got the wiggle out.

I'm sticking with the old russian iron sights from now on.

ETA: This is the one. http://www.cdnninvestments.com/m44scmonewta.html

I've mounted a lot of scopes on M-Ns for customers - it's usually a nightmare that costs both parties too much time & $$. 99% of what's available is crappy, plus M-N receivers are not uniform enough for a top mount. Darrel's Scout Mount is the only one worth a damn IMO- http://parallaxscurioandrelicfirearm...um/view/id/116

    Unfortunately

the only scope that i could find that didn't effect the weapon's originality was the Original Russian Scout scope. Found it for $280 on Ebay

Pics please......I'm unaware of a Soviet "scout" scope set up.
