I called Stag and they stated their chambers were cut to 5.56 NATO. Feel free to enlighten me again. I am kind of new to the non-match rifle jargon and imagine the 5.56 NATO chamber to be more generous than the .223 Rem chamber if it corresponds at all to the difference in 7.62 NATO and .308 Win chambers.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I switched out the extractor spring which now has plenty of tension. It was a huge difference from the Stag spring....I mean it was night and day. I pressed in the extractor with the Stag spring and the pin just fell out. It was a bit of a challenge to get the pin back in with the new spring minus the o-ring. Now it feels like extractors on my other AR-15's, M1A's, and M1 Garands.
I also installed an H2 buffer to lighten the action. I will post a range report on Saturday night. If I continue to have any issues it's going back to Stag. It could certainly be a rough chamber, put I have been trained to ID thouse in other rifles and I cannot see any burrs or rough areas and the extracted casings are clean and free of defects. Cases were really clean compared to other carbines I shot although those were sporting cans which makes the cases filthy.
