I personally have Armalite and LMT carriers that have the foward assist notches cut down into the lower bearing surface.Ive seen a few other brands that were the same way.All the cuts are minimal as pictured above and it seems to be a very common machining error.
In the carriers I have,Ive seen no unusual wear to the upper or function issues. So I say its not an issue other than cosmetics if there are no raised burrs present.
I say lube it and shoot it.

But doesn't that area ride on the upper? Wouldn't it be like having a file going back and forth on your upper?

hmmm...i just ordered one as well. that's a QC issue. not good thing for your QC to go down just to keep up with demand. it'll ruin their rep. i would send it back if i were you.

I have 2 BCG's right in front of me still in the bag and I'll be dang if one of them has these marks and the other don't. I just ordered a 3rd BCG not more than 5 min ago - oh yeah, they are in stock again.

I'll see if I can take a pic through the bag and post it. Tried to call Paul and ask about it but got the machine and I don't know if they are even still in at this hour.

Anyone else seen this? Is this normal (I wouldn't think so)? Seems to me like it could cause wear in the upper? It may be alright but I'd feel a lot better if the cuts weren't there.

Email them, they're always quick to reply.

I'm sure your BCG is still functional. I'm sure if you call BCM, they will make it right. Hell I can't remember the last time I used the forward assist or ever inspected the groves in a couple of decades in shooting M-16's and AR's.

Now guys, I'm not AT ALL impying that BCM doesn't have great QC. If I thought otherwise I wouldn't have spent as much money with them as I have. Heck, anyone can have out-of-spec product slip out the door - happens in any mfg enviroment. I'm not at all saying this IS out-of-spec, cause I don't know. That's why I posted here to ask if any of you had ever seen this before and if it was okay or something to be concerned about.

I've shot Paul an email with the pics to get his answer on the BCG. I know you guys are pretty hard core about components and TDP and all that and wanted your input as well.

As long as there aren't any burrs it shouldn't cause any premature wear, right?
